What is Fairness?

Have you read the definition of fairness? No? Well, here it is.

“the quality of treating people equally or in a way that is right or reasonable”

The word fair is used far too frequently in political circles. It seems to be a magic word that politicians use to make their electorate like them. This is because in politics, the word fair is always used in conjoncture with rich, and in a way to vilify them. Now why is that?

Politicians have to be liked, make promises in order to be elected. Given that 99% of the population isn’t wealthy, they always come with the argument lets make the rich pay for the poor. BUT WHY SHOULD THEY?

The government wants to play Robin Hood by taking more money from the rich, so they can give handouts in the form of benefits to the poor, so they get reelected. The truth of the matter is that the poor, by virtue of the fact they do not have much  or no disposable income, rely on benefits, that is paid for through taxes taken from hard working people including the rich. Therefore the poor do not put anything into the welfare system (NHS, Housing, schools, …) yet they are the ones that get the most out of it. Purely in terms of amount the rich are the ones that contribute the most to the welfare system (by virtue of the fact that they are rich), yet they do not get anything in return. Indeed, why should they pay more and not getting anything back? The rich pay for their own Healthcare privately, they pay for the education of their children privately, so why should they pay more taxes? I am by no means rich, but even I wouldn’t want to pay for something without getting anything in return. The truth and this will be very controversial is that people on benefits do expect to have something for nothing.

Now I want to put a halt to demonising the rich. They are the ones who through their companies, create wealth for this country, and employment. Without them, a lot of people including me would be jobless. So let’s stop this nonsense.

Do you really want this country to become like France where the rich are fleeing because wealth is perceived as a disease to a point where people have to hide it by fear of being attacked in the streets? Literally!!!!
